“ART OF” DIGITAL DOWNLOAD UPDATE #1

Hey Gang!
Finally started to dive into the "Art Of" Digital Download the last couple of weeks and got some good progress on it!

Originally touted as "roughly 12-20 pages", this thing is shaping up to be closer to 36 pages!!!... MAYBE MORE!... YOU'RE WELCOME!
I finished my initial rough layout pass dumping all the art in there I think made sense, and it quickly ballooned from 15'ish to 36'ish pages of content. I was happy with where it landed so now Im adding words (WRITING IS HARD!) and seeing how things can flow from page to page. Once that's locked I'll work with a buddy to make sure it's all pretty!
Right now it's looking like it's going to be 98% 2D / illustration focused, with very little 3D / digital sculpture work... but I think this shows how this IP came to be in a great way, how these characters started and evolved, all the crazy design iterations of those characters that got us to the final art, future characters, a lot of unused / unseen art, how variants came to be, etc. I just dont want this to become an actual MONSTOR of an undertaking... HEY-YO!
Anyways, with this being "Volume 1", I think concentrating on 2D / illustration will help keep it focused, and that opens up a future "Volume 2" to tackle the evolution of the characters in 3D / digital sculpture and physical painted prototypes.

ANDDDD BackerKit, the "Set-Up Review" got approved, HUZZAH! and now the "Smoke Test" is launching tomorrow... and once that is done the ACTUAL SURVEYS will be sent to everyone and we can get the BackerKit party started!

BACKERKIT - GOES LIVE SOON!

Hey Gang!
We recently finalized everything (to the best of our abilities) with BackerKit, and we have officially submitted it for "Set-Up Review", just to be formally vetted by the BackerKit team. Once that is complete it will be sent out for a "Smoke Test", which will be a small percentage of YOU GUYS to go through the process and see if there is anything that needs fixing.
Once that is complete, we will be sending out surveys and BackerKit will be a freaking GO! So it might be late next week, or early the week after, but soon, real soon... FINALLY!
It's great timing because the factory has started the process of creating the steel-tool molds, and once we're done with that and they have been approved, we will have the first "Fine Cuts" / tests soon after to make sure everything holds up in plastic.
ANNNNDDDDD we have started the Digital "ART OF" Book, hoping we can have that done before or right after Halloween!
Thanks gang! Cant believe ONE YEAR AGO we were in the middle of this Kickstarter craziness, and I hate it's taken so long for eall of this but I know these will be freaking awesome and worth it!

PRODUCTION UPDATE #4

One of the most emotional things Ive ever done is pack my Sham-Moo-Moo and Sting-Cobra prototypes to send off to the factory...
(they look like illegal substances!)
(the very last photo of them taken before their mummification)
Ive literally had these (my babies!) for over 2 years (Sham-Moo-Moo even longer!) and to see them finally make their voyage overseas to the factory was bittersweet... bitter in that they are GONE, but sweet as ALL HECK in that we're that much closer to GETTING THESE DANG THINGS IN FREAKING HAND!!!
(but still a ways to go!)
So here's where we're at:
- We are APPROVED to go to TOOLING - FINALLY! I actually gave the factory the thumbs up August 5th (with last second edits.)
- So NEXT is the factory goes to town on these things and make the steel molds (the most expensive part of the process, GOOD BYE MONEY!!!)
- Once the tooling is complete we wait for the first "Fine Cuts" / tests to make sure everything holds up in plastic.
Once I haven those in hand, and they have been thoroughly vetted by me and my production partner Chris, and we're STOKED and good to go, I'll provide an update and we'll have a final production calendar LOCKED.
I know this has been a SLOW process, but these are my babies, and they will be your babies too! So I wanted to make sure they were as perfected as possible instead of rushed to completion. I think the results (with some added bonus features) will make the wait worthwhile.

I actually got the Backerkit 100% DONE in late July, thanks to the help of an awesome awesome friend, Brandon, who sat down with me on a freaking Sunday before SDCC and we just banged it all out and he helped me solve all the technical weirdness issues I was running into. HE SAVED ME! So expect those surveys to go out SOON BABY!!!!
